Trey Songz Cleared In Domestic Violence Case

On Friday (May 3), the L.A. City Attorney dismissed the case and will not move forward with a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. The L.A. City Attorney cited a lack of evidence for his reasoning to not to investigate according to TMZ.

This news comes less than a month after the L.A. District Attorney announced that Songz wouldn’t face a felony criminal charge in the alleged incident before moving the case to the City Attorney’s office.

The case stems from accuser Andrea Buera who filed a restraining order against Songz in March, claiming the singer beat her repeatedly at a party in California on Feb. 17.

“I was attending an afterparty when Trey began yelling at me, choking at me…and ultimately knocked me to the ground,” Buera recalled at a news conference. “While I was on the ground, he continued punching me and did not stop until his security guard pulled him off me.”

After the alleged assault, Buera went to the hospital where she says she was treated for a concussion. Songz has maintained his innocence saying that he’s “being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain.”

Law enforcement sources said the singer’s attorney, Shawn Holley, gave numerous eyewitness statements to LAPD that contradicted Buera’s account of events during NBA All-Star Weekend in February. The L.A. DA looked over the evidence and found Buera’s case lacked credibility.

Andrea Buera’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, had no comment on the matter.
