A Toast to Marshmello for His First No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart
Marshmello jumps in at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated July 7) with Joytime II, his first leader, which launches with 5,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 28, according to Nielsen Music. The sequel to 2016’s Joytime took 2,000 of its unit total from traditional album sales, also good for a top start on Dance/Electronic Album Sales.
The original Joytime rides the wave of its successor, earning Greatest Gainer honors with its best unit week since April 8, 2017, up 16 percent and rising 24-20. Joytimedebuted and peaked at No. 5 on Jan. 30, 2016.
Of the nine Joytime II tracks, eight have hit Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (all except “Imagine”). “Tell Me,” released ahead of the album, debuted and peaked at No. 15 on June 23; “Check This Out” entered at its No. 29 high last week; and six tracks enter this frame, led by “Rooftops” at No. 26.
