21 Savage and J. Cole Showcase the Ups & Downs Of Life in Powerful ‘A Lot’ Video

21 Savage and J. Cole’s dynamic album opener “A Lot” immediately caught fire and was dubbed the consensus standout hit off the ATL native’s I Am > I Was album following its December release. The duo returned on Friday (Feb. 1) to drop off the Aisultan Seitov-directed visual to their smooth hit record, which currently sits at No. 34 on the Hot 100.

The cinematic clips begins with 21 and Cole exchanging bars at their family’s luxe black tie affair inside a lavish mansion home. Some of the same individuals cast in the video to show off black excellence are also used in a different light, when the scene pivots to some harrowing life situations they had to persevere through at one point.

An elder gentleman quickly goes from a smile at the dinner table to having major health concerns with tubes hooked up to his nose on what looks to be a hospital bed. Another father is faced with the horror of having to bury his own son, who was murdered in cold blood, while a mother suffers from distress having to visit her child in prison. Other themes flashed to throughout the flick include addiction, drug dealing, and domestic violence.
